President Bush is a liar, a tyrant, a coward, and a douchebag.

The Madness of King George

Olbermann has another spot-on retort, this time to President Bush’s so-called “surge” speech:

My own summary of the speech: “I didn’t make any mistakes, but ambiguous actors will stop the buck in my vicinity—before, during, or after the time when I’m am in that vicinity. Let’s forget that we went to Iraq on utterly fallacious pretenses and pretend that it was ever worth going to war there. Let’s pretend that Iraq’s worth fighting for and endanger even more American lives by sending in a few more expendable soldiers just to give the new government breathing room. Let’s pretend everything I ever said about Iraq never happened. I’m scared the Democrats read more books than I do.”

Every day spent under this administration makes Bill Clinton look more and more like George Fucking Washington.

What I like about this commentary is that he makes a “1984” reference and doesn’t tell you it’s a “1984” reference. That’s trusting his viewers to be well-read. The question, of course, is whether that trust is justified…

Ugh. Must you seriously inject misanthropic cynicism into everything? Sorry, but man, it gets tiring. Or maybe I’m being pissy.

Seriously, though, how many people got the Oceania and Eastasia reference? I’m betting less than 50-60%. Is that cynical? Possibly. Is it accurate? Possibly.
